Jaroslaw Lupinski has built a device that will generate magnetic signals to spoof a magnetic stripe reader – you know, the things that open doors and allow you to pay for your groceries. Instructables has a write-up on a similar device using an iPod but Jaroslaw’s device will allow you to change the data on the fly. Combine this with Stripe Snoop and you’ve got quite a powerful combination…

Okay, so it’s only got a 2.8″ screen and that hardly compares to the 10″ screens that most modern netbooks are sporting these days.

Earlier this week some iPhone 3.0 users started receiving random instant messages seemingly intended for other people. It was later uncovered that this was caused by unlocked iPhone users.
The iPhone generates unique public/private keys upon activation that identify handsets to secure those pushed IMs, and unlocking tools use duplicated keys to facilitate illicit use. With single identifiers registered to multiple phones instant messages are being sent all over the network – rather than to their intended destination.

The iKeePass team submitted the iKeePass app to the Apple App Store for review back in December of 2008. Apparently Apple wants them to make some changes before the app will be released. Once it becomes available, you should be able to import your existing database and carry all of your passwords on your iPhone. We’re anxiously awaiting this one!

Marcus at Interactive Matter has come up with a micro implementation of the TV-B-Gone (originally my Mitch Altman). This implementation is based on the ATTINY85 by Lady Ada with some parts replaced, some IR diodes removed and a smaller PCB layout. The result is a 1.4 cm to 2.5 cm SMT TV-B-Gone powered by a single CR1220 coin cell.
Marcus is not currently offering the units for sale but is considering offering an improved version which will be offered as a kit.

Kingston announced the release of the DataTraveler® 200 (DT200/128GB), the world’s first 128GB USB Flash drive. Now that’s some serious storage. The new 128GB drive is, unfortunately, build-to-order only.

A while back we told you about the Bust-A-Cap. Apparently they aren’t the only game in town when it comes to retrofitting your torch with a gadget for breaking automotive glass. Today we bring you the XCapeCap from ESD Products – a similarly designed endcap and optional bezel for breaking auto glass.

After you’ve added the CTU Ringtone to your 7960, you might want to consider sending the phone to Colorware for a custom paint job. I’m fond of Commissioner James Gordon Red (ala The Batphone) but they will let you choose any combination of colors that you like. Prices start at about $250.

The Epilog laser guys do some really cool stuff…We’ve wanted one of their engraving laser setups for a loong time but the $15k pricetag pretty much puts this out of reach for most hobbyists. They have spectacular examples of engraved work but this laser etched Maglite really caught out eye.

Vitelity PBX in a Flash Offer
Vitelity Communications has apparently been offering their inbound SIP service at a discounted rate for PBX in a Flash users for a while now. Their offering includes a Tier A ratecenter DID, 2 simul. channels + 100 free outbound U.S. minutes for $3.99/month. Their customer service thus far has been top notch and it’s easy to see why they’re listed as one of the few Editor’s Choice providers.
To qualify for the special offer, you have to sign up from the provider’s page on the PBX in a Flash site. (Note that the coupon says the offer expires in October of 2008 but we were able to sign up and get the rate in March 2009 with no problems)
