A US government program to increase the circulation of one dollar coins is being used by travel enthusiasts who buy thousands of dollar coins with credit cards that award frequent-flier miles for purchases. The Hive Five at Lifehacker recently voted on the best reward credit card and the Amazon.com card was the clear winner with 23.6% of the votes. The Amazon card was followed by the Costco American Express TrueEarnings card (18% of votes), Discover card (17.5% of votes), Chase Freedom card (16.6% of votes), and American Express Blue Cash card (13.9% of votes). Given that the participants in the voting were mostly computer geeks, this should probably be taken with a grain (or two) of salt. (more…)
